DFW AREA TO HOST 2013 GRAMBLING UNIVERSITY NATIONAL ALUMNI CONVENTION

RADIO SHOW HOST TOM JOYNER TO MAKE SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE

Addison, TX – The Grambling University National Alumni Association (GUNAA) will hold its national convention at the Marriott at Legacy Town Center in Plano, TX July 18–20.  The event, which attracts Grambling State University alumni members from all over the country, will be hosted by the Collie J. Nicholson Alumni Chapter of North Dallas.

“We are honored and absolutely ecstatic about hosting this year’s national alumni convention,” said chapter president Kimberlie Page.  “Our chapter members are driven and determined to make this event very special and one that fellow Gramblinites will leave remembering for a long time.”

Guest speakers for the convention include Dr. Frank G. Pogue, President of Grambling State University; Thomas “TNT” Todd, legendary civil rights attorney; Richard “Rick” Gallot, Jr., Louisiana State Senator – District 29; Jamie D. Grant, CEO of JDG Wealth Management, LLC; Kenn Rashad, President of Rashad Interactive, LLC; Suzanne Mayo-Theus, CEO of Mynette Management Company; Daryl K. Washington, Managing Partner at The Law Offices of Daryl K. Washington, P.C.  and Ophelia Nicholson, wife of the late Collie J. Nicholson who served as sports information director at Grambling State for three decades.

Tom Joyner, founder and chairman of the Tom Joyner Foundation will make a special guest appearance at the event.  Joyner said he’s excited about helping to raise money for Grambling State, which is the Foundation’s “School of the Month” in September.

“I’m so glad to be working with my Tigers,” said Joyner, whose nationally syndicated morning radio show airs in 100 markets reaching 8 million listeners every week.  “The Foundation’s mission – and my personal passion – is to help keep students finish their college education at Grambling. So, I ask the alumni, friends and other supporters to join me in making a difference.”

Convention registration fees:

  • Early Registration (postmarked by May 18, 2013) – $225.00
  • Regular Registration (postmarked by July 9, 2013) – $240.00
  • Late/On-site Registration (July 10, 2013) – $255.00
  • Non-Member – $225.00

Member registration includes admission to all information sessions/workshops, general body meetings, plenary sessions, luncheon and gala.

Non-Member registration does not include admission to the general meetings.
